This project is equivalent to the annual CO2 sequestration of two acres of forest. Christian said, “I was so glad to get your call saying this project qualified for a rebate. We are always looking for ways to save money and help pay for our building improvements. We are looking at more projects in Redwood Falls too.”

In addition to saving money on their electric bills, the project reduces annual greenhouse gases equivalent to the emissions of nine passenger vehicles. Loren said, “We have done so many projects with the utility and the rebate program is so helpful. Nancy usually does a payback analysis for us so we can ensure the new project is a worthwhile investment.

Redwood Falls Public Utilities Superintendent Jason Halvorson and Energy Services Representative Nancy Kelly presented Meadowland Farmers Co-Op Elevator Location Manager, Todd Beran, with a $1,142 rebate check. This project included replacing fourteen inefficient high bay light fixtures with new energy-efficient LED fixtures. This project reduces greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to the annual CO2 sequestration of six acres of forest. Todd said, “The new lights make the area much brighter and quieter. The existing fixtures had older ballasts that were at the end of their life and constantly humming.”

Redwood Falls Public Utilities Superintendent Jason Halvorson and Energy Services Representative Nancy Kelly presented Schult Homes Production Manager, Travis Welch, with a $42,371 rebate check. This project included replacing all lighting in the production and exterior areas to improve light levels for increased visibility and safety. They chose high efficiency LED lights rather than the less efficient alternative. This project reduces greenhouse gas emissions equivalent to the emissions of sixty-four passenger vehicles. Travis said, “We get a lot of comments on how much brighter the new lights are. Our workload has picked up and this has really made a difference.”
